The Uganda Police Force has launched an investigation into a viral social media video in which an unidentified man and woman allege that private vehicles are being used to forcibly arrest young people in the Buddo-Nakasozi area.
The duo further claims that those arrested are taken to Buddo Junior Police Post, where they are allegedly forced to hold machetes for staged photographs to falsely implicate them as criminals. They also assert that individuals who refuse to participate in this scheme are tortured. Additionally, they have called on Nakasozi residents to protest against what they describe as injustice against innocent civilians.
According to Uganda Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, preliminary investigations indicate that local authorities are unaware of such incidents. He also clarified that Buddo Junior Police Post is not fully operational due to ongoing construction, and all cases in the area are currently being handled at Buddo Kings College Police Post.
Police have further noted that similar allegations have previously been made by individuals seeking attention through subversive social media content. However, they have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to verify the claims and address any security concerns.
The Uganda Police urges the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary panic.
