Mukono – Traffic along the busy Kampala–Jinja Highway was severely disrupted on Friday, 29th August 2025, following a fatal crash near Victory Church, Seeta.
According to police, the accident involved four vehicles—a bus, two trucks, and a concrete mixer—which blocked the highway in the affected section. By press time, the number of casualties had not yet been confirmed, but authorities described the incident as fatal.
The disruption comes on a day when heavy traffic was already expected due to a football match scheduled at Namboole Stadium, further compounding the situation.
To ease congestion and ensure public safety, police have announced alternative routes for motorists:
Trucks (from Jinja side): Divert at Mukono–Kalagi–Gayaza–Kalerwe Interchange. Trucks (from Kampala side): From Kalerwe Interchange, branch off towards Gayaza–Kalagi–Mukono. Other vehicles (from City Centre): Use Naalya Roundabout–Kyaliwajjala–Sonde–Seeta–Mukono. Other vehicles (from Mukono side): Use Namilyango Road–Namanve Industrial Park–Jokas–Kinawataka Road. Alternative City Centre–Mukono route: Via Spear Motors–Kinawataka–Jokas–Namanve Industrial Park–Mukono Road.
Police urged all road users to exercise patience, follow traffic guidelines, and cooperate with officers on duty as efforts continue to clear the highway.
“We appreciate the public’s cooperation as we work to restore traffic flow,” a police statement read.
