Brig. Gen. Asaph Nyakikuru encouraged patience, to those that are yet to be promoted

Brig. Gen. Asaph Nyakikuru, the Deputy Commander of Special Forces Command (SFC), urged newly promoted army officers to redouble their efforts and commitment to service, emphasizing that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) expects even more from them in their elevated roles.
"Promotion is a significant milestone in any service member's career," Brig. Gen. Nyakikuru remarked during a ceremony held at the 10 Marine Battalion Headquarters in Entebbe. "It is a testament to your commitment, hard work, mastery of duty, and leadership skills."
Addressing the officers who have yet to be promoted, Brig. Gen. Nyakikuru encouraged patience, assuring them that promotion comes in due time, aligned with divine timing. "In biblical terms, promotion is seen as a divine favor and a reward from God. God promotes when His timing is right, not ours."

He reminded the newly promoted officers of the immense responsibility that accompanies their new ranks. "Your subordinates will look to you as a source of wisdom. You will be expected to provide solutions, encourage initiative, and lead with responsibility," he urged, according to a release from the Presidential Press Unit.

Col. Wilson Bagonza, Commander of Special Forces Group 3 (3SFG), expressed gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF for his visionary leadership, which has transformed the army into a formidable force admired regionally and globally. "It is because of this stability and vision that we are able to celebrate such promotions today," he said.
Col. Bagonza also praised the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for revolutionizing army training, particularly through the introduction of special training programs that have strengthened the commando unit within SFC. He extended his thanks to the Commander of SFC, Maj. Gen. David Mugisha, for his unwavering support in training efforts.

"We may not be the best from our communities, but we have been given the platform to perform our duties," she said. She also thanked both the CDF and the Commander of SFC for their continued guidance and appealed to her fellow officers to remain disciplined, loyal, and patriotic as they embrace their new roles.
