The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has awarded St Kagwa Bushenyi High School the hosting rights for the 2027 National Secondary Schools Ball Games I Championships.
The winning bid was announced by USSSA president Justus Mugisha on Thursday afternoon at the association's offices in Kampala.
St Kagwa will co-host the games with Bweranyangi Girls High School after beating other competitors, including Seroma Christian High School, to secure the hosting rights.
It will be the first time St Kagwa hosts the national championships. However, the school's headteacher, PK Kamugisha, is confident they will provide an excellent environment for the visiting athletes.
"We are honoured to have been named hosts of the 2027 Ball Games I, and we thank God for enabling us to emerge ahead of all the other bidders. We thank all the stakeholders, the Old Boys (OBs), the Bushenyi District leadership, led by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Ministry, USSSA, and the entire St Kagwa and Bushenyi communities for their support.
"We have been preparing for this, and we will continue to do so. We guarantee a unique and successful hosting experience," said Kamugisha.
