KAMPALA

A teenage-led media company operating in Wakiso is drawing attention over its internal structure, revenue model, and leadership arrangement, according to an interview with Daily Monitor and accounts from individuals familiar with its operations.
Apex Media Services, based at Eden Mobile Events Hall in Buddo, is presented as a digital media and promotions company offering advertising, music marketing, video production, and event publicity services.

The company is linked to a small internal team including Isaac Ssegawa as Managing Director, Joan Vumilia as Chief Financial Officer, Jymboy Mayanja handling graphics and deejaying, Mukibi Martin working as Video and Sound Editor, and Ssekaayi Simon listed as Co-founder.

Despite this structure, people familiar with the business say the company operates in a largely informal, project-based model driven by short-term promotional contracts rather than long-term retainers or fixed corporate clients.

Revenue is said to come mainly from musicians, event organisers, and small businesses paying for online visibility campaigns. Sources within the company say promotional packages average around 300,000 shillings per month, although pricing reportedly varies depending on the client and campaign scope.

However, the company's financial structure remains largely unverified externally, and details of contract volumes, client turnover, and profitability could not be independently confirmed.

Clients who have worked with the team described mixed but generally positive experiences. "I gave them my songs and they have really performed," said musician Muyanja Sharifu.
Another client, Mboowa Swaadiqu, said the company had handled his music promotion, describing the service as reliable.

Apex Media Services has been linked to promotional campaigns for artists including Victor Ruz, King Zale, and Jose Chameleone, as well as marketing support for projects such as Gloria Bugie's "Finally" collaboration featuring Victor Ruz and Tom Dee's concert publicity.
However, questions persist around the operational role of founder Nyanzi Martin Luther. According to accounts from within the organisation, he does not participate in daily operations, instead focusing on approving agreements and signing off on major partnerships.

Staff say day-to-day work is handled internally by the team, though the exact decision-making hierarchy and financial controls remain unclear.
The company is also said to have entered a partnership with Next Media Services/NBS TV, though details of the agreement and scope of collaboration were not independently verified.

Industry observers say Apex Media reflects a growing category of youth-led digital media startups in Uganda that rely heavily on informal networks, event-based income, and social media promotion — raising broader questions about sustainability and governance in the sector.
As Uganda's digital advertising market expands, the case of Apex Media highlights the blurred line between informal creative enterprises and structured media businesses operating in a rapidly evolving industry.
