Bushenyi - Police in Bushenyi District have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl after promising her grasshoppers. According to Martial Tumusiali, the Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred on December 7, 2024, at Cell A, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
John Byaruhanga, a 27-year-old casual laborer in Ishaka town, was arrested on December 11, 2024, after the victim started showing signs of infection. The girl's grandmother reported to the police that she had found Byaruhanga with her granddaughter in her kitchen three days prior, but he claimed innocence when confronted.
However, the girl later confided in her grandmother about the defilement after experiencing discomfort. The matter was reported to Ishaka Police Station, and officers responded promptly. A case of aggravated defilement was opened, and the scene of the crime was visited and documented by scene-of-crime officers.
Martial Tumusiali stated, "Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses and the victim, who was examined using the PF3A form. The suspect is being held at Ishaka Police Station for further investigation."
