It was a great honor for the people of Kakanju to host the Managing Director of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha, together with his wife, Hon. KAM.
In his speech, Dr. Mugisha thanked the local leaders of Kakanju and Hon. KAM for connecting him to serve the people of the area.

Annet and her husband Kamugisha adresses the residents

The MD highlighted the unserved areas and promised that water service extension would be done in the shortest time possible. He also addressed concerns about the cost of water, explaining that a jerrycan of water at a Public Stand Pipe (PSP) costs only UGX 25/=. He compared this to the price of meat at UGX 16,000 per kilogram, noting that the same amount can purchase 640 jerrycans at PSP, 64 jerrycans on the domestic tariff, or 230 jerrycans on the industrial tariff. This, he emphasized, shows that water remains affordable.

Dr. Mugisha further explained that producing a jerrycan of water costs NWSC about UGX 75/=. He noted that once water is extended to households, the time and energy that would otherwise be spent fetching water from long distances can instead be used for other productive activities.

Dr. Mugisha also called on the people to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

He urged residents to protect the environment, especially along the banks and source of River Warugo in Kakanju, where UGX 11.8 billion worth of investment sits.

Dr. Mugisha also called on the people to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom he described as the driving force behind water service delivery in the country. He further urged them to support Hon. KAM, whom he credited for connecting him effectively to communities.

He likened leaders to plantains, saying people cannot cut them down and still expect food. He emphasized that leaders prepare and serve the people, and therefore, should be supported, especially in times of elections.

As Patron of the Youth, Dr. Mugisha encouraged parents to love and stay close to their children, warning that some people misuse youth by inciting them to abuse leaders on social media—leaders they may need in the future. He promised to continue guiding young people, both physically and online, in ways that help them develop themselves.
He introduced the acronym HEND, which stands for Hard work, Entrepreneurship, Networking, and Discipline—principles that, if followed, can empower youth to succeed.

In her remarks, Hon. KAM thanked all those who supported her in the previous elections and appealed for continued support. She also announced two projects for the people of Bushenyi: poultry and coffee seedling initiatives.
The event was attended by local leaders and NRM officials, including the Assistant RDC Bushenyi, Mr. Matia Kakoni, and LCIII Chairperson Kakanju, Mr. Abel Kananga, among others.
It was indeed a joyful day for the people of Kakanju as they shared with Prof. Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha and his team.
