Bushenyi - During a health education event organized by Ishaka Health Plan in Kyakabizi Cell, Central Division, Dr. Emmanuel Akampurira emphasized the importance of adopting healthy eating habits to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Dr. Akampurira noted that NCDs are on the rise due to poor dietary habits, citing a study that indicates 36% of people are living with these diseases.
However, he stressed that NCDs can be prevented through proper nutrition and regular exercise.
"Instead of rushing to the hospital for treatment, we should focus on preventing NCDs through healthy lifestyle choices," Dr. Akampurira advised.
Daniel Kakuna, the Community Coordinator of Ishaka Health Plan, explained that the organization launched community sensitization efforts due to the high prevalence of NCDs, which he attributed to a lack of awareness about healthy living.
