According to a report aired by NTV Kenya, Kimani was allegedly killed by a hitman hired by his wife and three children after a long-standing dispute over family land.

Nakuru, Kenya — Residents of Bahati in Nakuru County are reeling in shock following the alleged murder of a 73-year-old man, Peter Kimani, in what authorities suspect was a plot orchestrated by members of his own family. According to a report aired by NTV Kenya, Kimani was allegedly killed by a hitman hired by his wife and three children after a long-standing dispute over family land.

Alleged Land Dispute Turns Deadly
Preliminary reports indicate that tensions within the family had simmered for years over ownership and plans to sell portions of land. It is alleged that disagreements escalated, culminating in the fatal attack on Sunday.
One of Kimani’s daughters, Joyce Wanjiru, said events unfolded when workers were unable to access equipment they needed. Upon entering the house, she reportedly found her father lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries.
“We hurriedly took him to the hospital, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries,” said a close relative.
Another resident claimed that shortly after the incident, the woman and her children appeared outside the house, crying and appearing to mourn. The resident alleged that their reaction seemed insincere.

Evidence Recovered
Police recovered two blood-stained wooden rods from a pit latrine near the home. Investigators believe the items may have been used in the assault. Authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing arrests or charges.

A granddaughter of the deceased alleged that Kimani had previously shown signs of mistreatment. She claimed he once had scratches and bite marks and had allegedly resorted to eating at a relative’s home after an earlier suspected attempt to poison him.
“They have been having long-standing disputes over land. They want to sell it, and every child wants a share of the money,” the granddaughter alleged.

Public Reaction
The incident has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Kenyans expressing disbelief and condemnation. Social media users described the case as tragic and disturbing, particularly given the alleged involvement of close family members.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Authorities are expected to provide further details as inquiries continue.
