The Uganda national U17 football team — the Uganda Cubs — has entered residential camp to begin preparations for the FIFA U17 World Cup, scheduled to take place next month in Qatar.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) on Tuesday unveiled a provisional squad of 47 players who will undergo intensive training before the final team is selected for the global tournament, set for November 3–27.
The squad, named by Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo, features players from both local and international clubs. Uganda made history by becoming the first-ever Ugandan football team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup tournament after defeating The Gambia 2–1 in the AFCON U17 semifinals held in April this year in Morocco.

The Uganda Cubs are placed in Group K alongside Canada, Chile, and France. They will open their campaign against Canada on November 5, before facing Chile on November 8, and wrapping up the group stage against France on November 11.
The technical team includes Assistant Coach Ronald Ssali, Goalkeeping Coach Kenneth Magada, and Physical Trainers Simeon Massa and Dennis Kizito.
The medical team is led by Dr. Michael Kamu Gumisiriza and Dr. Ivan Kulika, while Noah Veron Ddamba serves as Equipment Manager.
Joel Cornelius Kivumbi is the Team Media Officer, Emmanuel Kakaire (FUFA TV) will handle communications, and Bashir Mutyaba, FUFA’s Football Development Director, will oversee the delegation.
Meanwhile, FUFA has unveiled former Ghana international Laryea Kingston as the new Head Coach of Uganda’s junior national teams. Kingston, who was introduced by FUFA CEO Edgar Watson on Wednesday, will supervise the technical development of the U23, U20, U17, and U15 teams. However, Ssenyondo remains in charge of the World Cup-bound U17 squad.
