The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has today arraigned two suspects before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrate's Court on charges related to land grabbing, malicious property damage, and theft.
The suspects, Ssembuze Elly and Miyingo Vicent, appeared in court in connection with a violent incident that occurred on April 6, 2025, around midnight in Namulanda Ward, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, allegedly accompanied by armed personnel, unlawfully demolished a residential home belonging to Twambale Robert and his family. The family claims to have occupied the land for over 30 years. The prosecution further alleges that the suspects destroyed a poultry house, a pigsty, and made away with several household items during the attack.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents and attracted the attention of law enforcement due to its violent nature and the involvement of firearms.
Investigators believe the attack is linked to a longstanding land dispute between the family of the late Bethuel Nsubuga, Twambale's father, and the family of the late Cyprian Ssemwanga. The conflict centers around the ownership of approximately 2.6 acres of land in Namulanda Ward, an area increasingly plagued by land wrangles as real estate demand rises.
The suspects were remanded to prison until May 26, 2025, pending further investigations and court proceedings.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit reiterated its commitment to combating land grabbing and related crimes, warning individuals and groups against using violence to resolve land disputes.
“Such acts of lawlessness and impunity will not go unpunished,” said a spokesperson from the Unit.
The case continues to draw public attention, as calls for land justice and protection of lawful occupants intensify in Wakiso and other fast-growing peri-urban districts.
