Sheema - Police in Sheema District are investigating the circumstances under which two juveniles lost their lives in a fatal road accident. The accident occurred on May 3, 2025, at around 8:00 a.m. in Ryensiibo II Cell, Rweibare Ward, Kakindo Town Council, Sheema District. The tragic incident involved a white Isuzu Forward motor vehicle, registration number UAX 678W, driven by a yet-to-be-identified man.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, identified the victims as two female juveniles, aged six and two years, respectively. “It is a very unfortunate incident. The two young girls were walking along the road with their mother when the accident happened,” Tumusiime stated.
It is alleged that the vehicle was traveling from Kabwohe towards Kakindo when, upon reaching Ryensiibo Village, the driver lost control, veered off the road, and fatally struck the two children.
“Preliminary information indicates that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and hit the juveniles,” Tumusiime added.
He confirmed that the bodies were taken to Kabwohe Health Center IV mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
“We have conveyed the bodies to Kabwohe Health Center IV mortuary, where a post-mortem will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death,” he said.
Tumusiime assured the public that investigations are ongoing to trace and apprehend the driver.
“We are actively investigating the matter, and efforts to locate the driver—who is currently on the run—are underway. We urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the police,” he appealed.
Local residents expressed shock and grief over the tragedy. “It is heartbreaking to see such young lives lost so suddenly. We ask authorities to tighten road safety measures here,” said Samuel Byaruhanga, a resident of Ryensiibo.
Police have called on drivers to exercise greater caution on the roads.
“We appeal to all motorists to drive carefully and responsibly to avoid such painful losses of life,” Tumusiime concluded.
