The national women’s U20 team, the Queen Cranes, will this evening take on Namibia in the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup qualifier at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, Kampala.
The game, scheduled for 4:00 pm, will be the first-leg encounter between the two sides before they meet again on September 22 for the return leg.

The team, under the guidance of head coach Sherly Botes Ulanda, has been in camp since September 10. Botes expressed confidence that the Queen Cranes will overcome the first hurdle as they begin their quest to qualify for their first-ever global showpiece.
Earlier this year, Uganda eliminated Namibia from the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after the Teen Cranes defeated their opponents 18-1 on aggregate in a double-legged tie at Hams Stadium, Nakivubo. However, Botes noted that this is a different competition altogether.

The winner between Uganda and Namibia on aggregate will face either Burundi or Zambia in the final qualification round in February next year, with the victor securing the last African slot for the tournament, which will be hosted in Poland in 2026.
