Speaker Anita Among has led the Ugandan Parliament in extending heartfelt get well wishes to Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, following his hospitalization 11 days ago. The Pope was later diagnosed with pneumonia, prompting Speaker Among to call on all people of goodwill to include the Holy Father in their daily prayers.

“Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, has been hospitalized for the last 11 days. The Pope is reportedly suffering from pneumonia. We, as the Parliament of Uganda, want to join the millions of believers out there to pray for his faster recovery. When you read Psalms 30:2, it says: ‘Lord my God, I call to you for help, and You healed me.’ On behalf of the Parliament of Uganda, and on my own behalf, we want to join the global Catholic fraternity and all people of goodwill to relay our heartfelt get well wishes to the Holy Father, Pope Francis. May the Lord heal Pope Francis, and we continue remembering him in our daily prayers,” remarked Speaker Among.

Updates on Pope Francis’ Health from Vatican
According to the Holy See Press Office, Pope Francis had a quiet night and is currently resting. Upon waking up, he sat in his armchair, where he continued his therapy. The Pope is undergoing the same oxygen therapy as in the past few days. A medical update later in the evening may include the results of a pulmonary CT scan carried out on Tuesday.

A Tuesday evening statement on Pope Francis’ health indicated that his “clinical condition remains critical but stable. There have been no acute respiratory episodes, and hemodynamic parameters continue to be stable.”
“In the evening, he underwent a scheduled CT scan to radiologically monitor the bilateral pneumonia. The prognosis remains guarded,” continued the statement. “In the morning, after receiving the Eucharist, he resumed work activities.”

Twice-daily statements have been keeping the faithful informed about the Pope’s health since his admission to the Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome on Friday, February 14, following a bout of bronchitis.
He is currently being treated for double pneumonia, and a health update last week noted that he is also showing signs of mild renal insufficiency, which appears to be under control.
