Following numerous complaints about aggravated robberies in Mukono District, security operatives made a significant breakthrough on March 2, 2025, with the arrest of nine suspects. The suspects were apprehended along Bombo Road while traveling in a white Toyota Noah, registration number UBR 254E.
During interrogation, one of the suspects provided crucial information leading to the recovery of a rifle used in the robberies. On March 7, 2025, police successfully retrieved the firearm from Lukojjo Village, Mpoma Parish, Nama Sub-County, Mukono District, at the home of Wagube Ivan Stephen, also known as Ivan Musambwa.
The rifle was found concealed in a sack along with a pair of military uniforms, a military jacket, and house-breaking tools, raising further concerns about the scale and organization of the criminal activities.
Authorities have assured the public that further investigations are underway to dismantle the network behind these crimes and bring all perpetrators to justice. Additional details will be communicated as inquiries progress.
Residents of Mukono District have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in efforts to combat crime in the area.
