President Yoweri Museveni, also Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), has encouraged five retiring army generals to prioritize wealth creation as they transition to civilian life.
Speaking during a farewell ceremony at State House, Entebbe, Museveni advised the generals to invest in sustainable ventures, particularly land and agriculture, urging them to avoid risky investments. He highlighted his own experience purchasing land in Kisozi in the 1990s and suggested the generals follow a similar path.

"Go for durable investments. Land is a solid foundation for wealth creation. You can engage in agriculture—coffee, fruits, and livestock—and even establish fishponds if you have wetlands," Museveni said.

The retiring generals—Maj. Gen. Silver Kayemba, Brig. Gen. Charles Kisembo, Brig. Gen. Godard Busingye, Brig. Gen. Fred Karara, and Brig. Gen. CA Kasaija—were honored with certificates and recognition for their service. Museveni commended their dedication to the UPDF and underscored the importance of a dignified retirement.

Defense Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth praised the retiring officers for their transformative impact on the UPDF, emphasizing the international respect Uganda's army has earned. Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, acknowledged the significance of retirement, noting that the generals had served their country through challenging times.
