Sheema – Canon Col. Charles Aine, in charge of the education mission at Kitagata Archdeaconry and an old boy of Kitagata Senior Secondary School, has donated five brand-new computers to his former school to boost education standards. The donation was in fulfillment of a pledge he made during the Old Students’ Reunion Day held at the school on July 19, 2025, where he served as guest of honour. The computers come at a crucial time as candidates prepare for their final examinations, set to begin on October 13.

Kitagata SSS is widely recognized for its strong performance in sciences, consistently producing some of the best results in Sheema District, particularly in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. However, the school has been grappling with a shortage of computers, a challenge that has slowed ICT integration in teaching and learning.

The institution has been prioritizing the promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to equip learners with practical skills relevant to the modern job market.

Teachers believe the new computers will not only support ICT lessons but also strengthen research, innovation, and problem-solving in science subjects.

Leonald Atwebembire, a teacher and publicity secretary of the Kitagata Old Students Association, hailed Canon Aine for the gesture.
“These computers will help our students excel and maintain the school’s strong record in sciences,” he said.

The headteacher, Mr. Biryomumaisho Elly, also praised the donation, noting that the school’s growing enrollment has increased pressure on facilities.
“We are very grateful to Canon Col. Charles Aine for this generous contribution. I appeal to the government and other well-wishers to support us further by providing more computers and constructing additional laboratories, since our enrollment has now reached about 230 students,” he said.
