Igara East Member of Parliament, Michael Mawanda Maranga, has donated school bags to primary schools in his constituency as the third term kicks off. The initiative was carried out in partnership with One Nation Uganda. Each bag contained essential scholastic materials, including pens, rulers, sharpeners, books, and erasers, aimed at supporting young learners in their academic journey.
During the handover ceremony, Joshua Asingwire, Political Assistant to Hon. Mawanda, urged students to take good care of the materials.
“Keep them well, don’t destroy them, use them properly, read your books for your future, and always put education first,” he advised.
The donation was met with gratitude from both students and school administrators. A student told Hunter FM Radio that the support had made a significant difference in their learning experience.
Nicholas Tibagyigwa, Director at Unity Progressive School, thanked Hon. Mawanda and One Nation Uganda for their generosity, noting that such gestures reflect a genuine commitment to improving education in the region.
Victor Bakikunde, LC3 Chairperson for Kyiezooba, praised Hon. Mawanda as a true leader and urged the government to address teacher strikes to ensure uninterrupted learning.
Ahimbisibwe Ronald, Headteacher of Ncucumo Primary School, said the initiative would motivate students to excel academically.
This donation underscores Michael Mawanda Maranga’s dedication to uplifting education in Igara East and highlights One Nation Uganda’s support for community-driven initiatives.
The gesture is expected to boost students’ morale and encourage them to prioritize their education.
