NAGALAMA — Two suspected cattle thieves were fatally injured in the early hours of Wednesday morning following a police operation that intercepted a suspicious vehicle at Nakasajja Trading Centre along Gayaza Road. According to Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident occurred at around 3:00 AM when officers from Nagalama Police Station, on routine patrol at Kalagi Trading Centre, spotted a white Toyota Prado TX (registration number UAZ 797G) moving in a suspicious manner.
"When signaled to stop, the vehicle instead accelerated, prompting a high-speed pursuit. Officers managed to intercept the car at Nakasajja Trading Centre," Owoyesigyire said.

During the operation, some suspects managed to flee, but two were apprehended. Unfortunately, both sustained injuries during the encounter and were pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of three heads of cattle, suspected to have been stolen. Police say efforts are underway to trace the rightful owners of the livestock and to identify the suspects who escaped.
The bodies of the deceased remain unidentified and have been taken to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
