BUSHENYI

Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality Mayor Richard Byaruhanga has praised primary schools in the municipality for their strong academic performance, saying their consistency has helped the area maintain its position among the best-performing municipalities in the country.
Byaruhanga made the remarks yesterday while presiding over a thanksgiving and dedication ceremony at Parental Care Nursery and Primary School in Bushenyi town.

He said the schools’ consistent performance had helped the municipality rank first nationally in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) for the past three years.
“The good performance of our schools has contributed greatly to the municipality’s success in national examinations,” Byaruhanga said.

Parental Care Nursery and Primary School was also celebrating its first-place finish in this year’s national Music, Dance and Drama (MDD) competitions.
The school also ranked first in Bushenyi District in the 2025 PLE examinations, recording a pass rate of 98 per cent.

During the ceremony, 138 Primary Seven pupils were dedicated to God as they prepared to sit their PLE examinations.

The service was led by St Kaggwa Parish priest, Fr Evarist Mutambi, and All Saints Archdeacon, Ven. Rev. John Makuru, who encouraged the candidates to remain confident as they prepared for their examinations.

They urged the pupils not to fear the examinations but to read questions carefully and understand them before writing their answers.
“Be confident and take your time to read and understand each question before answering. Avoid rushing because this can lead to mistakes,” the religious leaders told the candidates.

The school director, Elivaidah Nshemerirwe, thanked parents for supporting their children’s education and contributing to the school’s progress.
“We thank the parents for trusting us with their children and supporting their education. Their continued involvement is important in helping the pupils achieve their goals,” Nshemerirwe said.

The headteacher, Desmond Tayebwa, praised the school’s progress in academics and co-curricular activities, saying the achievements reflected its commitment to nurturing pupils’ talents and improving their performance.
He encouraged the pupils to remain focused on their studies and work hard to maintain the school’s strong performance.
