Bushenyi District Local Government has signed contract agreements worth Shs 299 million with contractors to undertake a series of development projects aimed at improving service delivery across the district. The contracts cover the supply and installation of water tanks, construction of latrines, renovation of the district multipurpose hall, refurbishment of the district veterinary laboratory, and installation of culverts.

The signing ceremony, held yesterday in the District Council Hall, was presided over by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ms. Sanyu Phionah, who urged contractors to work closely with local leaders.
“Contractors should inform the leaders in the respective project areas and allow them to monitor the progress of works. This will promote accountability and ensure smooth implementation,” Ms. Sanyu said.

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Emmy Ngabirano, emphasized the need for efficiency and transparency in executing the contracts.
“All stakeholders – technical staff and contractors – must ensure timely reporting, payment processing, and implementation. This will enable projects to be completed within the stipulated period,” Mr. Ngabirano noted.

District Chairperson Hon. Jafari Basajabalaba cautioned contractors against bidding without proper site inspections, warning that such practices often lead to unnecessary demands for additional funds.
“Always visit project sites before submitting bids. This prevents misunderstandings and ensures that contractors deliver quality work without requesting extra funds for unforeseen works,” Hon. Basajabalaba said.
The district leadership expressed optimism that the projects, once completed, will significantly improve public service delivery in water, sanitation, veterinary services, and infrastructure.
