The Bushenyi District Local Government (DLG) leadership has launched a continuous monitoring exercise to track the progress of several high-value government projects for the 2025/2026 financial year.
Led by District Chairperson LC V Jafari Basajjabalaba and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Phiona Sanyu, the team inspected a range of administrative and educational facilities across the district. Key projects monitored include the new Veterinary Laboratory at the District Headquarters, the District Multipurpose Hall, and a three-classroom block at Kacuncu Primary School in Bumbaire.
The monitoring tour also served as a commissioning ceremony for several sanitation projects. At Bumbaire Primary School, leaders officially handed over a completed five-stance latrine. Similarly, at Kyeizooba Primary School, a five-stance VIP latrine for girls valued at Shs 31.9 million was commissioned for immediate use.

In Kyamuhunga Sub-county, leaders reported that construction of the Shs 3.5 billion Kanyamurera Seed School in Nshumi is nearing completion. Funded under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UGIFT) programme, the project’s core infrastructure is currently estimated at 98 percent completion.
During a site visit on Thursday, District Engineer Mbonimpa confirmed that the school buildings are ready for use.
“Apart from the playground, progress on the rest of the school’s infrastructure exceeds 98.5 percent,” he said. “Only minor defects have been identified, and the contractor, KHALSA, has taken full responsibility to correct them before final handover.”
Despite final works on the sports facilities, the school has already opened, and learning is underway. School administrators confirmed that enrolment has surpassed 370 students.

Regarding the playground, officials said the contractor is working at an accelerated pace to level the field in preparation for the new term. District leaders expressed satisfaction with the milestone, noting that the seed school brings quality secondary education closer to residents of Kyamuhunga.
The contractor pledged to deliver a high-standard final product, assuring leaders that all identified defects would be rectified before the official handover.
