The 20th edition of the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games commenced today at the host venue, Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono, with western giants Bishop Stuart University (BSU) making a promising start.
The Mbarara-based institution registered a 2–0 victory over Lira University in their opening men’s football match, with Yusuf Lule scoring both goals in the first half to give BSU an encouraging start in the highly competitive discipline.
BSU also recorded a crucial 3–2 win over rivals Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in the men’s volleyball group game, a result that keeps their hopes of progressing beyond the group stages alive.
The university also posted encouraging performances in both the men’s and women’s woodball doubles on the opening day.
