In granting bail, His Worship Kabombo noted that the victim had requested her alleged tormentor be released on bail so that she could continue receiving financial support for her medical treatment, which Atwongyirwe had agreed to offer.
Atwongyirwe, a resident of Katete Central Cell, was arrested earlier this month and charged with grievous harm under Section 199(a) of the Penal Code Act. She had been remanded to Mbarara Main Prison.
According to court documents, on September 25, 2024, while in Katete Central Cell, Katete Ward, Mbarara City South Division, Atwongyirwe allegedly poured hot water on her maid, Racheal Ninsiima, with the intent to cause serious bodily harm.
His Worship Kabombo adjourned the case until December 3, 2024, when the hearing will commence.
