On Tuesday, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, arraigned Ahebwa Eric before the KCCA Magistrate’s Court on charges related to land fraud. Ahebwa faced three criminal counts: Forgery, Uttering False Documents, and Fraudulent Procurement of a Certificate of Title.

According to prosecution, Ahebwa, together with others still at large, allegedly committed the offenses on January 3, 2018, at the Ministry Zonal Office in Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). It was alleged that the accused forged a land transfer form with intent to deceive or defraud, which was then used to fraudulently obtain a certificate of title for land located in Kyadondo Block 255, Plot 389, at Munyonyo.

The forged documents reportedly led to the illegal transfer and registration of the said land—an act that investigators believe was deliberately orchestrated to misappropriate the property.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit commended the joint efforts of law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies in bringing suspected fraudsters to justice, and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting corruption and land fraud in Uganda.

Ahebwa was remanded, and the case adjourned, pending further investigation and the arrest of his alleged accomplices who remained at large as of Tuesday.

Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspected cases of land fraud to the relevant agencies.
