Opinion: Life is about survival not sentiments

We live in a competitive, unforgiving world where survival often dictates the choices people make. Every day, men and women alike rise to the challenge of providing for themselves and their families—sometimes through legal means, sometimes otherwise. At the core of this struggle is the timeless truth: life is about survival, not sentiment.
Too often, however, decisions in family life are made on the basis of emotion rather than practicality. A man works tirelessly to provide for his household, yet his efforts are dismissed or undervalued because of “hurt feelings.” In some cases, women choose to leave marriages not because of physical abuse or genuine threat, but because of emotional dissatisfaction. The result is often devastating: single mothers left with the burden of raising children without a sustainable survival plan, turning to bitterness, blame, or empty hopes for miracles.

Survival has always been the law of nature. The lion does not consider the gazelle’s feelings before hunting—it simply acts to live. In the same way, humans cannot afford to prioritize fragile emotions over practical realities. Breaking a family structure without an alternative means of survival places both mother and children at a disadvantage.

This is not to justify abuse, which should never be tolerated. But when “feelings” alone become the basis for dismantling a family, the consequences can be dire. The lesson is clear: before planning to have children, women—and men—must ask themselves how those children will survive. Stability, provision, and resilience should outweigh temporary discontent.

In the end, nobody solves real-life problems through sentiment. Survival requires sacrifice, endurance, and pragmatic choices. Those who ignore this truth often find themselves bitter, regretful, and unprepared for the realities of life.
