“INFECTORS”

Written By | Evan Sande Ndahura

In the game of power,
no,
in the war of survival,
your circle is not a circle…
it is a climate.

And climates don’t negotiate.
They shape.
They bend.
They decide what grows in you.

You think you are choosing friends,
but slowly, quietly,
they are choosing
who you become.

Listen.

There are people who walk into your life
like medicine,
they don’t announce it,
they just heal what you didn’t know was broken.

And then…
there are infectors.

Smiling.
Breathing.
Existing like a slow disease.

They don’t stab you,
no, that would be mercy.
They leak into you.
Drop by drop,
habits, doubts, shortcuts, excuses,
until your bloodstream forgets
what discipline ever tasted like.

And suddenly,
you are tired… but you have done nothing.
Angry… but you don’t know why.
Losing… but you keep calling it “bad luck.”

No.

You caught something.

Because in the game of power,
association is not innocent
it is contagion.

You laugh at their laziness
until it becomes your language.
You excuse their chaos,
until your life begins to echo it.
You defend their failures,
until failure feels like home.

And when the world looks at you,
it doesn’t see your intentions.
It sees your environment.

Guilt by association is not unfair,
it is evidence.

Show me your circle,
and I will show you your future
in slow motion.

Because infectors leave patterns,
a long, ugly trail of broken trust,
ruined opportunities,
half-built dreams,
and bridges burned before they were even crossed.

They are always “almost” something.
Almost successful.
Almost disciplined.
Almost changed.

But almost
has buried more destinies
than failure ever did.

And you,
you stand there trying to “understand them,”
trying to “help them,”
trying to “be loyal”,

While your own life
is quietly being negotiated downward.

Listen carefully,

Loyalty to destruction
is not virtue.
It is self-sabotage wearing a moral mask.

Not everyone deserves access to your time.
Not everyone deserves proximity to your vision.
Not everyone deserves to breathe
in the same space as your ambition.

Because proximity is power.

And power—
power is fragile.

It can be diluted
by the wrong conversations,
the wrong energy,
the wrong people.

So learn this—
before life teaches it brutally:

You don’t rise by carrying infections.
You don’t win by accommodating decay.
You don’t survive by negotiating with poison.

Sometimes the only cure…
is distance.

Cold.
Clean.
Final.

Call it selfish,
call it harsh,
call it whatever makes them comfortable,

But history does not remember
those who explained themselves to the infected.

It remembers those
who chose growth over guilt,
clarity over chaos,
discipline over sympathy.

So in this game,
this ruthless, silent, unforgiving game.

Judge people not by their stories…
but by their impact.

Not by their pain…
but by their pattern.

Not by what they promise…
but by what follows them.

Because some people
don’t just waste your time—

They rewrite your destiny.

And by the time you realize…

you’re no longer fighting for power—

You’re fighting
to be yourself again.
