Pastor Dr. Abel Tumusiime has pledged to rebuild Bukanga County by restoring lost hope among the electorate. Tumusiime, a resident of Bukanga, was officially nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest for the position of Directly Elected Member of Parliament for Bukanga County in Isingiro District.
Running under the slogan “Restoring Hope, Rebuilding Bukanga,” Pastor Dr. Tumusiime launched his manifesto on Sunday, noting that Bukanga County — though blessed with resilient people and fertile soils — remains one of the most marginalized parts of Uganda, suffering from underdevelopment, high poverty levels, and inadequate social services.
He pledged to offer servant leadership that listens, lobbies, and works tirelessly to bring government services and development closer to the people.

Other priorities, he said, include improving education and skills development by lobbying for better school facilities, adequate teacher deployment, and promoting girl-child education. He also pledged to establish youth skills and vocational training centres focusing on trades and ICT.
Dr. Tumusiime emphasized the need to upgrade and equip health facilities with essential medicines and personnel while prioritizing maternal and child health to improve healthcare in the county.
He further pledged to establish community recreation and sports facilities, support youth sports, and promote talent incubation and mentorship programmes to create employment opportunities for the youth — the largest demographic group in Uganda.
According to him, the current leadership has failed in governance, peace, and regional cooperation, which has hindered cross-border engagement due to poor infrastructure connecting Uganda with neighbouring countries such as Tanzania and Rwanda.
During the press briefing, Dr. Tumusiime also launched a tree-planting and soil conservation campaign aimed at protecting water sources and wetlands from degradation.
Pastor Dr. Abel Tumusiime will face off with the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Stephen Kangwagye, in the upcoming election.
