Ainebyoona, who had earlier appeared in court on March 27, 2025, and was released on bail, absconded and went into hiding for six months. A warrant of arrest was issued against him on June 30, 2025, after he failed to honor court summons. Despite his attempts to evade justice, he was re-arrested this week following a joint operation by the Anti-Corruption Unit and Police.

According to investigations, on March 14, 2025, Ainebyoona and others still at large forcibly entered land on Block 542, Plot 2 in Kiboga District. They allegedly evicted several occupants, destroyed crops, houses, a fence, and animal sheds belonging to the complainant, 70-year-old Badru Mwanje, and also assaulted people present on the land.
The case followed a directive by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the Head of the Anti-Corruption Unit, Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, to investigate the criminal aspects of the incident and ensure that justice prevails.
The Court has remanded Ainebyoona until October 13, 2025 as investigations continue.
