The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have recovered a rifle and several pieces of military gear following the arrest of a suspect during a night patrol in Lamwo District on Monday.
The arrest took place at around 8:00 pm on 7 July 2025, when soldiers from the 1 Dumisha Brigade apprehended 24-year-old Okot Charles, a resident of Irumo Village, Ngasino Parish, Agoro Sub-County.
Security officials say investigations are underway to establish the source of the recovered weapon and military attire and to determine whether the suspect is linked to any criminal or rebel activities in the area.
The UPDF has called on residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious individuals or activities to local authorities to strengthen security in the region.
