KAMPALA
Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga has called on Ugandan entertainers to remain humble and respectful despite the fame, influence, and wealth that come with success in the entertainment industry.
Speaking at a public function in Kampala, Mayiga said many celebrities lose direction after becoming famous, often distancing themselves from the communities and values that once shaped them.
He warned that pride and irresponsible behavior can quickly destroy careers, reputations, and public trust, especially in an era where entertainers hold major influence over young people through music, film, comedy, and social media.
Mayiga urged artists to protect their image by maintaining discipline, respecting their supporters, and using their platforms to inspire positive change in society.
“Success should not make people forget who they are or where they came from,” he noted while emphasizing the importance of humility and good conduct.
The Katikkiro also encouraged entertainers to focus on financial planning and personal growth, saying fame in the entertainment industry can be short-lived without proper decision-making and investment.
He further commended artists who participate in charity work, youth empowerment initiatives, and community development activities, describing them as examples of responsible leadership within the creative sector.
His remarks come as Uganda’s entertainment industry continues to grow rapidly, producing influential figures whose lifestyles and opinions increasingly shape public discourse and youth culture across the country
