Sheema – The Sheema District Woman Member of Parliament (MP) flag bearer, Adrine Katusiime Mwebesa, has accused her rival, former Woman MP Hon. Jacklet Atuhaire Rwabukurukuru, of engaging in voter bribery in a bid to return to Parliament.
Speaking to our reporter, Adrine alleged that Jacklet has been distributing money during her consultation meetings across the district. "Such practices undermine free and fair competition," Adrine noted, calling on the Electoral Commission and relevant authorities to investigate.

Jacklet, who currently serves as a Commissioner at the Uganda Human Rights Commission, recently announced that she would contest as an independent candidate. She has already started holding meetings in parishes across Sheema, with reports indicating that each attendee receives Shs10,000.
Critics, however, argue that Jacklet is only attempting to hoodwink voters, warning that she might disappear again as she allegedly did during her first term.
"We voted Jacklet and she promised us heaven and earth, but after winning she went abroad and only returned a year to the elections," lamented one woman leader in Bugongi Town Council.

During her 2016 campaign, Jacklet pledged several ambitious projects, including:
However, residents say none of these promises were fulfilled.
Even after losing the 2021 elections, Jacklet has reportedly kept away from Sheema. Community members claim she instead established a farm in Wakiso District, with some suggesting that she should contest there instead.

Meanwhile, the Sheema District Woman MP seat is currently held by Rosemary Nyakikongoro, who was recently defeated by Adrine Katusiime Mwebesa in the NRM party primaries. Nyakikongoro is yet to declare whether she will return as an independent candidate — a decision that could further complicate the race.
