Bushenyi residents were left in shock on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, after Nyehangane Darius, a male adult, was found dead in a lodge in Ishaka, Bushenyi Municipality. According to Apollo Tayebwa, Acting Police Spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Region, Nyehangane had checked into Addex Bar & Lodge at around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29.
“When he failed to wake up by 9:00 a.m. the following morning, the lodge owner knocked on his door but received no response. The matter was immediately reported to Ishaka Police Station,” Tayebwa said.
Police officers swiftly responded, broke into the room, and found Nyehangane lifeless. His body was later transported to Kitagata Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Tayebwa confirmed that police have launched investigations into the sudden death. “The lodge owner has been arrested to assist authorities in establishing the circumstances surrounding Nyehangane’s passing. Investigations are still ongoing,” he noted.
In a statement, police also urged lodge and hotel operators to always record full details of their guests. “We appeal to all lodge and hotel managers to demand their customers’ full particulars, as this is crucial for both security and safety reasons,” Tayebwa emphasized. The cause of Nyehangane’s death remains unknown, pending postmortem results.
