Bushenyi —
Police in the Greater Bushenyi subregion today bid farewell to Martial Tumusiime, who has retired after serving as the regional police spokesperson for the past 13 years.
Tumusiime, who joined the Uganda Police Force in 1991, retires after 34 years of service across various departments. He has been widely praised for his exceptional time management and unwavering dedication to duty.
Godfrey Achiria, the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Commander, urged fellow officers to plan early for retirement and maintain close ties with their communities.
“Many officers tend to pass away shortly after retirement because of the isolation they experience after years of service,” Achiria noted. “I commend Tumusiime for his dedicated service and the thoughtful way he has prepared for this next chapter.”
Aggrey Okumu, the District Police Commander (DPC) of Bushenyi, described Tumusiime as a model officer.
“He loved his job and was always punctual,” Okumu said.
In his farewell remarks, Tumusiime expressed gratitude to both his fellow officers and journalists for their cooperation throughout his tenure.
“I am grateful for the good working relationship I had with both my colleagues and the media over the years,” Tumusiime said.
He officially handed over his office to Apollo Tayebwa, who will serve as acting regional police spokesperson.
