Seroma Christian High School in Mukono is steadily emerging as a sports powerhouse in Uganda's school sports scene after qualifying eight teams to represent the country at the 23rd edition of the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Associations (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, from August 13 to 22.
The Mukono-based institution will have the largest contingent among Uganda's representatives, with 64 athletes competing in eight sports disciplines at the regional games.
The 64 athletes were among the 2,200 members of Team Uganda who were flagged off on Saturday at a ceremony held at the National Council of Sports (NCS) in Lugogo, Kampala.

Seroma Girls secured the volleyball silver at the national championships held in Gulu last month

Seroma secured a silver medal in boys' table tennis, bronze medals in boys' and girls' badminton, and silver in boys' lawn tennis during the USSSA Ball Games I, which the school hosted in May.

At the USSSA Ball Games II, held in Gulu last month, the Mukono side secured additional slots after winning bronze medals in both boys' and girls' basketball 3x3, silver in girls' volleyball and silver in girls' scrabble.
"Yes, we are one of the biggest teams on Team Uganda, and thank God for that. We have prepared all our teams very well and we are ready for the competitions in Morogoro. We hope to win medals for Uganda that will help retain the overall title," games teacher Abu Ssenyo said.

Seroma also contributes swimmers
In addition to its school teams, Seroma has also contributed several swimmers to the Uganda swimming team, which has dominated the discipline in both boys' and girls' categories over the past five years.
Uganda are the overall defending champions of the FEASSA Games, having secured their fifth consecutive title at the last edition in Kakamega, Kenya.

Uganda's continued dominance has seen perennial rivals Kenya lose their grip on the regional competition after winning 19 titles since the FEASSA Games were established in 2002.
