Sheema — In a move aimed at protecting and sustainably managing natural resources, the Rotary Club of Kabwohe has donated tree seedlings to the newly commissioned Sheema District Central Police Station. The tree planting initiative seeks to rehabilitate the degraded areas surrounding the police premises.

Speaking during the tree planting ceremony at the Sheema Central Police Station headquarters in Kagango Division on Saturday, Dancuns Mugumya, Commissioner of Physical Education and Sports in the Ministry of Education, emphasized the vital role trees play in combating climate change. He urged local communities to actively participate in tree planting initiatives as a means to mitigate environmental degradation.

Mugumya said, "Planting trees is not just an environmental duty; it is essential in the fight against climate change, and I implore everyone to embrace this practice."

Engineer Allan Mbaga, the president of the Rotary Club of Kabwohe, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to environmental conservation, vowing to continue planting more trees across the district.
"We are committed to restoring the environment through tree planting, and we will ensure that more areas in Sheema benefit from similar initiatives," said Mbaga.

Sheema District Police Commander, Kasule Consilata, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for the donation, noting that the tree seedlings will enhance the appearance of the police station and contribute to a more sustainable environment.
"We appreciate this generous donation from Rotary Club of Kabwohe. The trees will not only beautify our premises but also promote environmental conservation," said Kasule.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote sustainability and combat the adverse effects of climate change in Sheema District.
