RUBIRIZI

His Grace Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha of the Mbarara Archdiocese has made a passionate plea to Christians to abandon sinful habits and embrace a life of holiness within the church.
The Archbishop made these remarks on Thursday during a confirmation ceremony for 290 Christians at Kyamwiru Catholic Parish in Katerera, Rubirizi District. During the mass, he specifically addressed the growing trend of Western-influenced fashion and digital distractions during worship.
“It is important for Christians to dress modestly when coming into the house of God. We must move away from the habit of wearing miniskirts and tight, fitting clothes that do not reflect the sanctity of the church,” Archbishop Bainomugisha noted. He further cautioned the congregation against the use of mobile phones during mass, urging believers to dedicate that time fully to the liturgy rather than digital distractions.

Addressing the 290 confirmands, the Archbishop encouraged the young people to serve as role models in their communities by focusing on prayer and spreading the gospel.
“I urge the youth to love and trust God, respect one another, and live virtuous lives. To the parents, I encourage you to raise your children with strong moral values, and to the children, I ask for your total respect and obedience to your parents,” the Archbishop added.

The Parish Priest of Kyamwiru, Rev. Fr. Amen Mukasa, explained that the visit served as a spiritual milestone for the newly confirmed members, marking their maturity in the Catholic faith.
“The Archbishop’s visit is to confirm these 290 Christians in their faith. We encourage those receiving confirmation today to live virtuous lives and act as good ambassadors in their community. I also urge you to keep your confirmation documents safe, as they are vital for your future reference within the church,” Fr. Mukasa stated.

Fr. Mukasa also used the occasion to highlight the parish's progress, thanking the Christians of Kyamwiru for their cooperation in ongoing development projects, including the completion of the main church building.
Mr. Robert Besime, the Head of Laity at Kyamwiru Catholic Parish, expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for his guidance and fatherly visit. He called upon the young people to remain committed to their service to God and to ensure their daily lives align with the Christian values imparted during the confirmation.
