This year’s edition of the FEASSA Games will feature the inclusion of new sports disciplines—chess, scrabble, beach volleyball, beach soccer, and lacrosse—as the regional association moves to broaden opportunities for student-athletes to showcase their talents. The games will be hosted in Kakamega County, Kenya, from August 12 to 23, bringing together top schools from the member countries of Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and hosts Kenya, competing in more than 20 sports disciplines.

The inclusion of these five new categories was a resolution passed by the FEASSA executive committee, led by President Justus Mugisha, during a meeting held earlier this year in Kenya. The aim is to expand sports participation and offer students a broader platform to develop and display their athletic abilities across the region. Following the recently concluded National USSSA Ball Games II held in Tororo, Uganda's representatives in boys' and girls’ lacrosse will include Nabisunsa Girls, Bombo Army, Empower International, St. Peter’s Tororo, and Kigezi High School.
