Mawejje allegedly presented himself as an employee of State House with the intent to defraud Namakula Rose Mary

Kampala

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working jointly with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Criminal Investigations Department, has arraigned Mawejje John on charges of personation. He has been remanded until November 19, 2025. According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on July 11, 2025, at Embassy House in Kampala. Mawejje allegedly presented himself as an employee of State House with the intent to defraud Namakula Rose Mary—a claim investigators say was false.

Preliminary findings indicate that Mawejje summoned Namakula to appear before him at what he described as the President’s office for an “investigation meeting” regarding a land transaction. He allegedly instructed her to bring signed transfer forms for Weraga Robert, the buyer of her house located in Maganjo Zone, Nabweru Town Council in Wakiso District. The property was sold in 2004.

Following intelligence leads, investigators arrested Mawejje and recovered documents related to the disputed land transaction. He was later charged with personation and remanded pending further court proceedings.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected impersonation or fraudulent activities involving government offices.
