Crested Cranes head coach Sheryl Botes Ulanda has named a squad of 20 players to represent Uganda at the 2025 edition of the CECAFA Senior Women’s Challenge Cup, set to take place in Tanzania from June 12 to 22.
The players were announced on Saturday morning, following a last-minute green light from the tournament organizers. The championship was last held in 2022 in Uganda.

Botes has opted to field an entirely locally-based squad, with the exception of midfielder Margret Kunihira, who plays for Caessia Queens LFC in Tanzania and is expected to join the team there.
The Crested Cranes will have only two days of training in Kampala, starting Sunday, before departing for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where the tournament will be hosted.

Uganda will open its campaign against Burundi on Thursday, June 12. They will then face South Sudan on June 14, Kenya on June 17, and hosts Tanzania on June 19. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format involving five of the ten CECAFA member countries.

Uganda are the defending champions, having won the 2022 edition in Njeru, Uganda, by defeating Burundi 3–1 in the final, with goals from Sandra Nabweteme (2) and Fazirah Ikwaput.
