Two men from Western Kenya have attracted public attention after mutually agreeing to exchange wives in an unusual attempt to resolve marital conflicts stemming from infidelity.
Christopher Auma and Kevin Barraza, both middle-aged, reportedly decided to swap partners after discovering that both their wives had been unfaithful. The rare arrangement emerged after Kevin’s wife, Lilian Weta, confronted him for bringing another woman—introduced as his cousin—into their home.
Kevin defended his actions, saying he felt emotionally abandoned because Lilian had become involved with another man. Seeking closure, Lilian approached Christopher Auma, who then proposed that they start living together.
Christopher reportedly reasoned that “those considered best by others should be together,” implying that everyone deserved peace and compatibility. Surprisingly, both couples agreed to the exchange and have since been living harmoniously for several years.
The matter was reported to the local police, and both families—alongside community elders—sanctioned the arrangement on condition that bridal possessions be returned.
Children from both families are said to have adjusted to the new family setup. When interviewed, all parties, including Kevin and his new partner Immaculate, expressed satisfaction with their current spouses and confirmed they had no intention of returning to their former partners.
