A female Nigerian law student at Kampala International University (KIU) Western Campus was on Sunday attacked in her hostel room in Bushenyi District, where she was allegedly raped and robbed by knife-wielding thugs.
SP Tayebwa Apollo, the acting Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident, which occurred on September 14, 2025, at around 4:20 a.m. in Katungu Cell, Ishaka Division. He said unknown assailants armed with a knife broke into the student’s room, allegedly raped her, and stole her Samsung A16 mobile phone. Police officers responded to the scene and commenced investigations in line with standard procedures. The victim, a second-year law student, was later taken to Bushenyi Police Health Centre II, where she received post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
Apollo said inquiries are ongoing to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen property.
“We appeal to members of the public to provide any relevant information, in confidence, that may assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice,” he added.
