The Bishop of West Ankole Diocese, Johnson Twinomujuni, has called on clergy in the greater Bushenyi area to complement their spiritual responsibilities with income-generating projects that benefit both their families and the church. Speaking at a one-day workshop held at the Ankole Western University (AWU) Resource Center in Sheema Municipality,  on Thursday, August 29, Bishop Twinomujuni addressed theology students from AWU. He emphasized the importance of clergy participating in additional income-generating activities alongside their spiritual duties.

"While you have excelled in healing ministries and preaching, it is equally important to focus on creating income streams for your households," Bishop Twinomujuni said. "In addition to your contributions to health, education, and the overall well-being of Christians, ensuring household income should be a priority."
He further encouraged clergy to establish various income-generating projects within their churches, reducing reliance on offertories. According to Bishop Twinomujuni, traditional methods of collecting offertories from believers are no longer sufficient to fund evangelism and other church-related initiatives.
"Churches require substantial cash flow, which cannot be solely provided by believers. You need to explore alternative means, and such projects can help bridge the gap," he added.

Dr. Ainomugisha Andrew, Vice-Chancellor of Ankole Western University (AWU), urged the clergy to engage young people in the church to ensure the continuity of religious traditions. He highlighted the importance of allowing youth to develop a strong moral and spiritual foundation.
