KAJARA COUNTY'S TIMUZIGU BOWS OUT

Written By |
Timuzigu said he will not be coming back in 2026

The Kajara County MP, Michael Kamugisha Timuzigu, has told voters that he will not contest for MP in 2026.“This is my last term. I will not contest again in 2026. I don’t want to contest again,” he told voters in Kajara.

He noted that Kajara County has many able and knowledgeable people who can ably represent the constituency. The move has left the opposition camp jubilant, noting that the departure of Timuzigu has provided fertile ground for them to reclaim the constituency. Timuzigu of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) claimed the seat from fellow NRM contender, Stephen Tashobya, in 2016.

Deus Muhweezi Rwambikana, James Hunter Byenjeru-Tukahirwa, and Dr. Atwine Godwin Turahi, a retired army officer, are some of the contenders combing Kajara County.

Other contenders that have mounted mobilization drives include veteran Vision Group journalist, Lauben Muhumuza Matsiko; Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) mobilizer, Alex Mutesa; lawyer, Eliakim Atumanya Kapson; former district councilor, Benon Musinguzi; businessman, Hamidu Kigongo; the coordinator of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), Robert Muhangi Tigahwa; Radio West station manager, Dickson Baryahabwe; the chief mobilizer of Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Jolivious Akankwasa; and Onerous Muhairwe.
