President Museveni received complaints and ordered a probe into MP Ssekikubo

President Yoweri Museveni has directed an investigation into allegations of land grabbing, evictions, and violence in Sembabule District, focusing on Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo. The probe follows complaints from residents, who voiced their concerns during a meeting with Museveni at State House, Entebbe, on July 23, 2024.

Residents accused Ssekikubo of involvement in forced evictions and violence, with one case involving the murder of Stephen Tandeka, whose body was found near Ssekikubo's home. Another incident involved the death of Jude Talenyebwa during a forced eviction, and multiple other cases of assault and malicious damage were reported.

President Museveni ordered the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) to investigate these allegations. A team of detectives has been dispatched to Sembabule to conduct inquiries and revive stalled cases.

Ssekikubo acknowledged the probe, stating that he respects the law and will cooperate. He also suggested that the investigation might be politically motivated due to his recent censure motion against parliamentary commissioners. Despite his concerns, Ssekikubo expressed confidence in the due process of the law.
The investigation will also cover allegations of illegal acquisition of government ranches, including Ranch 29 in Kyambogo, Bulongo Sub-County, reportedly obtained by Ssekikubo through his cousin and agent, Francis Senkoto.

State House officials emphasized that the probe is focused on criminal activities and is unrelated to the political controversies surrounding Ssekikubo’s parliamentary actions.
