Mbarara City head coach Simon Mugerwa says he is not concerned about his team being forced to play league games away from their traditional home ground, Kakyeka Stadium, as the new season approaches.
Mbarara City has been directed to establish a new home ground and will now host matches at Rwamwanja Stadium, located 150km from Mbarara. The local football governing body, FUFA, disqualified Kakyeka Stadium from hosting league games due to its dilapidated state.

But Mugerwa insists his new-look side is ready to adapt and compete anywhere.
"We are preparing for all conditions, and we shall go to Rwamwanja and fight for good results. We are confident that our management is doing everything possible to bring us back to Kakyeka, but as a team, we shall treat Rwamwanja as our home and work hard for victories," Mugerwa said.

The team recently traveled to Rwamwanja for acclimatization and played friendly matches there, which Mugerwa said helped attract a new fan base that will boost their morale during the league.
For now, Mbarara City continues to train at Ntare Grounds in Kakyeka as renovation and upgrading works at Kakyeka Stadium proceed. According to the 2025/2026 league fixtures, Mbarara City will open their campaign on September 26 with an away match against newly promoted Police FC—Mugerwa’s former employers—before hosting UPDF on October 3.

Mugerwa has strengthened his midfield with the signing of his former Buddo SS FEASSA-winning pivot Ibrahim Thembo, along with Gadaffi Kacancu, Ian Amanya, Clinton Kamugisha, and Umony Kaka. The squad has also been boosted by the return of Arafat Nsubuga and Thomas Kakaire.
