A man accused of offering Shs8 million to police officers in an attempt to access a secured crime scene in Wakiso District has been remanded by the Anti-Corruption Court.
Kayiwa Amir was charged with offering gratification and remanded until September 30, when he will return to court for mention.

Prosecution alleges that on August 29, 2026, Kayiwa offered Shs8 million to police officers guarding a crime scene at Lubowa, Kajjansi Town Council.

The officers had reportedly been deployed to secure the premises of Details Security Company Ltd following a complaint over the alleged theft of 785 kilogrammes of gold.

According to the prosecution, Kayiwa wanted the officers to grant him access to the office of Asimwe Emmanuel, where he allegedly intended to remove vital evidence.

The premises had been cordoned off as investigations into the alleged gold theft continued.

Kayiwa's arrest and prosecution followed a joint effort by the Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The court remanded him until September 30 for mention of the case.
