Barcelon, PSG battling for Mason Greenwood

PSG and Barcelona will be battling for Greenwood's signature come next season

Mason Greenwood has reportedly drawn big-money interest from two European football giants following his explosive start at Marseille this season. The former Manchester United star has hit the ground running in Ligue 1 after joining the French side on a permanent deal for the 2024-25 campaign.
Greenwood, 22, spent the previous season on loan at Spanish club Getafe after mutually agreeing to part ways with Manchester United. This followed the club’s internal investigation into his conduct after his 2022 arrest. He had been arrested in January of that year on charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behavior. However, the charges were later dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service when key witnesses withdrew.

Despite the controversy surrounding his move to Marseille—where even the city’s mayor, Benoit Payan, publicly opposed his signing—Greenwood has quickly become a key player under head coach Roberto De Zerbi. He was named the club’s Player of the Month for August, having scored five goals in his first three appearances.

According to reports from The Sun, Greenwood’s impressive form has caught the attention of major European clubs, including Barcelona. The Catalan giants are reportedly preparing to make a £60 million offer to bring the forward to Camp Nou for the 2025-26 season as they look to strengthen their attacking lineup.

However, Barcelona may face fierce competition from Paris Saint-Germain. The French champions are believed to have sent scouts to monitor Greenwood's performances and will have the opportunity to assess him further when PSG faces Marseille at the Orange Velodrome later this month.

A source told The Sun that Greenwood "loves France" and has received a warm welcome in Marseille, which could influence his decision regarding his future. Should he leave after just one season, it would be a significant blow to De Zerbi, who played a pivotal role in bringing Greenwood to the club.

As the transfer window looms, the battle for Greenwood's signature is expected to intensify, with two of Europe's biggest clubs vying to secure the talented forward.
