BUSHENYI

Bushenyi District Local Government (DLG) has initiated a week-long drive to enhance accountability and service delivery by commissioning projects completed during the last Financial Year 2024/25 and launching community barazas (public accountability forums). The projects being commissioned this week are valued at a total of UGX 934.37 million, funds released by the central government for local development.

Project Commissioning Highlights
The exercise began today with the official handover of several key projects across the district:

  • Small Scale Irrigation Systems:
    • One system was commissioned in Bumbaire Sub-County at the farm of Mr. Gumisiriza Deo Kadada in Kantunda, Kiyaga. Notably, former Bushenyi RDC Mr. Kibondo Rwakifari attended the function as a beneficiary of the project.
    • Another system was commissioned in Rwentuha Town Council at the farm of Mr. Kafaku Kodoni.
    • A third small-scale irrigation project was commissioned in Ibaare Sub-County at the Eco Standard Coffee farm belonging to Katureebe Julius.
  • Education Infrastructure: The DLG commissioned critical facilities to boost learning environments, including:
    • A new playground at Kabushaho Seed School in Bumbaire Sub-County.
    • A three-classroom block at Kabuba Primary School in Kyeizooba Sub-County, alongside the handover of 14 twin desks supplied to the school.

Launch of Accountability Barazas
In a parallel effort to engage citizens and promote transparency, the district leadership officially launched a Community Baraza in Kizinda Town Council.
The baraza, organized by the office of the RDC Bushenyi and the DLG, focuses on Service Delivery and public accountability. The forum serves as a platform for residents to assess and monitor government performance.
