The national women’s U-20 team, the Queen Cranes, has entered a residential camp ahead of the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup qualifier encounter against Zambia. A team of 32 players under head coach Sheryl Botes Ulanda began preparations on Saturday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, where they are camping.
Uganda will host the first leg on February 7 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, with the second leg scheduled for February 14, 2026, in Lusaka, Zambia.
The 2026 African U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification is the 13th edition of the Africa U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, the biennial international youth football competition organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to determine which women’s under-20 national teams from Africa qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup due in Poland. From this qualification process, four teams will represent Africa.
To reach this stage, the Queen Cranes saw off Namibia 5–0 on aggregate in the second round of the qualifiers.
This round of qualifiers will also see East African giants Kenya and Tanzania face each other, with Kenya hosting the first leg, while continental powerhouses Nigeria and Senegal, as well as Ghana and South Africa, have also been drawn together.
Kenya beat Ethiopia, while Tanzania eliminated Angola, but the round will see giants Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia out after failing to progress beyond the second round.
